One Nation senator Malcolm Roberts told a Brisbane Christian conference he wants the party to move to ban abortion entirely. "That’s becoming my goal," he said, adding: "That’s something I’ll be putting to the party. We need to reconsider some things [but] it will be a conscience vote." His remarks sit alongside comments from party leader Pauline Hanson, who said at the National Press Club it was only "too late to have an abortion" after 20 weeks and has said she is not against abortion in the first trimester and not against "women that need to have an abortion for medical reasons." Roberts was in the front row at the Church and State summit and said he had learned more about abortion from the group's founder, Dave Pellowe.
