Mahershala Ali and Bassam Tariq reunite for Your Mother Your Mother Your Mother

Mahershala Ali and director Bassam Tariq have reunited for the action film Your Mother Your Mother Your Mother, whose trailer was released by MGM. Ali stars as a devout hitman who fights his way across Houston to protect his children after his wife’s death. The cast also includes John Cho, Giancarlo Esposito, Tramell Tillman, Abubakr Ali, Tiffany Boone and Laith Nakli.

Katelin Arizmendi is the cinematographer and Son Lux provides the music. The movie was announced in February 2025 and finished filming on May 29, 2025. That steady timeline stands in contrast with the long-troubled Blade project at Marvel. Blade was announced in July 2019 after Ali pushed for the role, Tariq was hired in 2021, and Delroy Lindo and Aaron Pierce later joined; the film was initially set for Nov.

3, 2023. The production ran into problems when writer Beau DeMayo was removed (he alleges this followed concerns he raised about racially motivated comments by Marvel executives), and Tariq left after additional delays.
