Lukaku forces own goal as Belgium draw 1-1 with Egypt
Romelu Lukaku came off the bench to help Belgium avoid defeat, forcing Mohamed Hany into an own goal from a Thomas Meunier cross as the Red Devils salvaged a 1-1 draw with Egypt in Seattle. Egypt had taken the lead through Emam Ashour's terrific 19th-minute strike from outside the area.
Egypt continued to cause problems, with Mohamed Salah linking well with Omar Marmoush, Mostafa Ziko and Ashour, while Belgium struggled to string passes together and failed to register a shot on target in the first half. Belgium improved after the break, Kevin De Bruyne striking the outside of the post with a free-kick, and Lukaku's introduction proved decisive; he looked certain to convert seconds after coming on and later missed a headed chance that might have won the game.
Thibaut Courtois was given 4/10 after a shaky display, beaten from distance by Ashour, flapping at a corner and making a mess of trying to parry a Mohamed Salah header to safety.
