Paris Saint-Germain retained the Champions League with a 4-3 penalty shootout win over Arsenal, after a 1-1 draw at the Puskas Arena in Budapest. Arsenal opened the scoring through Kai Havertz from a fortunate break, but PSG levelled when Ousmane Dembele converted a penalty after Khvicha Kvaratskhelia was fouled by Cristhian Mosquera.

Kvaratskhelia came alive in the second half and PSG also threatened late in normal time—one effort deflected onto the post and Bradley Barcola missed a presentable chance—before Gabriel Magalhaes missed the decisive spot kick in the shootout. Luis Enrique’s side showed a different dimension when their forward line was not at its brightest.

The coach lifted his third European Cup and PSG’s back-to-back triumphs, combined with consecutive domestic titles, mark them as a growing dynasty: they are the first side since Real Madrid to retain the trophy and just the third in history to win both their league and the European Cup in consecutive seasons.
