'Love Island USA' voting app glitch sparks fan outrage
Fans of "Love Island USA" were unable to submit their first votes for Season 8 after episode seven when the show's voting app glitched Tuesday night. Viewers were asked to choose who the new Bombshells — Sol, Jen, and Caleb — should couple up with. Many users encountered an "error" message and took to social media.
"'love island usa' app down??? this is voter suppression," tweeted one user. "this f–k ass ‘love island’ app playing with me, i’ve been registered for DAYS now they kicked me out suddenly soon as voting opened and won’t let me register OMFG," complained another.
Early Wednesday morning, the official X account tweeted an apology: "For those of you experiencing issues registering to vote, we apologize for the inconvenience. Our team is actively working on it. Stay tuned for updates. #LoveIslandUSA." Hours later, Peacock said the app crashed due to fans’ "overwhelming enthusiasm for America’s first vote." Voting was extended until 3 p.m.
