Lord and Miller to Produce Universal Sci‑Fi 'I Promise We're Cool'
Phil Lord and Christopher Miller have signed with Universal Pictures to produce a new sci-fi project titled I Promise We're Cool. They will collaborate with writer Charlie Hall and director Max Tzannes. The film is described as a high-concept high school comedy with a sci-fi twist.
The move fits with Lord and Miller's genre-crossing track record, from the 2012 21 Jump Street reboot to their recent Project Hail Mary. Their credits also include The LEGO Movie duology and Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs, and they are attached to 2027's Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse.
They were involved in the Nicolas Cage-led live-action Spider-Noir series on Prime Video, a character they helped popularize in 2018's Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. Charlie Hall, known for The Sex Lives of College Girls and Monster: The Ed Gein Story, is the project's screenwriter; he is the son of Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Brad Hall.
