The Logitech M185 is a low-profile, light wireless mouse that connects to a PC via a small USB receiver. It uses a single AA battery that can be replaced about once every year, and its ambidextrous design suits left- and right-handed use. Small size and low price make it a handy backup for travel or for multiple workplace computers; it is currently $13 on Amazon, down from its $18 list price.

Setup is simple: plug the tiny nano receiver into a USB‑A port and the mouse works immediately with no software to install. The receiver is small enough to stay in the port and the connection stays strong up to 33 feet. The M185 does not have Bluetooth, so it requires a free USB‑A port; on newer laptops with only USB‑C ports you’ll need a USB‑C adapter.

An on/off switch and an automatic sleep mode help stretch that single AA battery to close to a year of normal use, and the mouse ships with the battery installed.
