Lineker questions Tuchel over Lewis Hall omission from England World Cup squad
Gary Lineker said he found Thomas Tuchel's decision to omit Lewis Hall "hard to understand", questioning why certain defensive positions were being safeguarded while a player who excelled at left-back this season was left out. Hall, who featured in friendlies against Uruguay and Japan, was not included in the 26-man group traveling to the United States.
Speaking on The Rest is Football podcast, Lineker said: "It certainly surprised me... I found Lewis Hall’s omission hard to understand, I really did. He’s been brilliant this season." He added that Hall was the only player he had seen cope with Lamine Yamal this season.
Lineker also voiced disappointment at Cole Palmer's exclusion, noting: "I was disappointed about Cole Palmer because Noni Madueke had an okay season but he plays second fiddle to Bukayo Saka most of the time. Cole gives you something different he’s a moment player...
