Lexi Minetree wears Reese Witherspoon’s 2001 ‘Legally Blonde’ premiere dress

Lexi Minetree appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Wednesday night wearing the same dress Reese Witherspoon chose for the original 2001 Legally Blonde premiere.

Designed by Marc Jacobs, the knee-length midi featured a mermaid hem, spaghetti straps and bright pink taffeta layered under a light black tulle. Minetree echoed early-aughts styling by pairing the look with hot pink Steve Madden mules.

Witherspoon originally wore the dress with matching lipstick, a pulled-back bun and strappy heels. She originated the role of Elle Woods and will serve as an executive producer on the new series.

Minetree, who was three months old when the original film came out, will play a high school version of the Harvard-bound Woods in the Prime Video series Elle, which is set in 1995 and premieres on July 1. She joked that she recreated Woods’s Harvard admissions video, with help from her mother, to land the role.
