Lego reveals biggest set ever, the 12,060-piece Sagrada Família
Clear some shelf space: The Lego Company revealed its biggest set ever, the 12,060-piece Lego Architecture Sagrada Família. It outpaces the previous record-holder by more than 1,000 pieces and makes the recently revealed The Lord of the Rings: Minas Tirith set look small by comparison.
Part of the Architecture line, the set recreates Barcelona’s landmark in brick form. The set's building instructions mirror the basilica’s actual construction sequence: "The build begins with the foundational Apse and Crypt, moves through [architect Antoni] Gaudí’s original Nativity façade and the dramatic Passion façade, before rising into the grand naves, Western Sacristy and six iconic towers.
The final stage brings the model together with the Eastern Sacristy and the Glory façade." Designer Rok Žgalin Kobe said, "We felt an immense responsibility to do justice to the Sagrada Família through this design.
