Legendary Warhammer artist John Blanche has died

John Blanche, a hugely influential illustrator known for his work on Warhammer 40,000 and other Games Workshop properties, has died. Artist Trish Carden announced his passing on Facebook, saying he had died earlier this week and sharing a message requested by Blanche's wife Lin: "John was an inspirational artist, devoted to his family and a good friend to many.

Always generous with his time and knowledge, he was very well loved by all who knew and worked with him. He’ll be hugely missed." Blanche's vision helped define the grimdark look of the Warhammer world. Examples of his work appear in the 40K print shop, including pieces titled Black Templars Art and Blood Angel vs.
