Teen girl–centred dramas have taken streamers by storm in 2026, and the latest to receive the teenage treatment is a 90s-set prequel to Legally Blonde. The series follows Elle Woods as a high-school junior to mark the film’s 25th anniversary, opening with a lavish sweet sixteen and a world of ultra-stylish girl groups, cute car phones, walk-in wardrobes and very attractive boys.

At 16, Elle (played by Lexi Minetree) declares she knows exactly who she is and what she wants: a five-year plan, a perfect first kiss and steady friendships. That bubble bursts after her dad botches a high-profile nose job and the family relocates to grey, Twilight-esque Seattle, where hoodies, calls for social justice and a dislike of blond girls who think "pink is a personality" collide with her California cheerfulness.

The show grew out of Reese Witherspoon’s sense that "the world could use a little Elle Woods," and creators aimed for a tone of real teenage stakes mixed with comedy.
