Legally Blonde returns in new trailer for Prime Video series

A new prequel series, Elle, explores what Elle Woods was up to in high school. The official logline places her in 1995 as "a fish in the tumultuous waters of high school," where she encounters tricky friendships, forbidden romance and questionable fashion choices while leaning on her family and forming a closer bond with her mother.

Lexi Minetree plays Elle, and June Diane Raphael will portray her mother — a role that was a brief appearance in the original film, where Tané McClure played the part. Reese Witherspoon serves as an executive producer. The series also features Tom Everett Scott, Gabrielle Policano, Jacob Moskovitz, Chandler Kinney and Zac Looker.

The story opens with Elle’s family in Bel-Air before her parents move them to Seattle, forcing her to adjust to rainy weather and classmates who would rather wear plaid than pink. A classmate tells her, "Seattle isn't a costume, and pink isn't a personality," and the trailer hints she helps uncover a conspiracy at her new school.
