Which $200 34-inch KTC ultrawide is the better Prime Day buy?
Prime Day has produced two cheap 34-inch KTC ultrawides: the H34S18S for $203 and the H34S5 for $212, both listed on Amazon. A 34-inch ultrawide is a favored gaming form factor for immersion, and the 3,440 by 1,440 resolution balances image detail with reasonable GPU load.
The format also works well for daily computing and multitasking, and many users prefer a single ultrawide to dual 16:9 panels; that said, pixel density in this class is a little lacking and 4K brings a much heavier GPU burden. The H34S18S is a VA-panel display with a 180 Hz refresh rate, a 1 ms MPRT response rating and 300 nits of brightness.
Those numbers aren’t spectacular but match most entry-level 34-inch ultrawides, and pixel response can be a weak point for VA technology despite the 1 ms claim. The H34S5 uses an HVA panel, an HVA variant designed for faster response by “pre-tilting” the liquid crystals.
