KJ Dillard: Mental health struggles led Dara Levitan to briefly split

KJ Dillard said his mental health struggles prompted girlfriend and Summer House co-star Dara Levitan to briefly end their relationship. He made the comments on Tuesday’s episode of More Life with Carl Radke. Before the show, Dillard said modeling work had slowed and he had taken a summer break to focus on filming, which left him in a "terrible place" financially.

Although he was taking medication for anxiety and depression, he did not realize he was also dealing with undiagnosed borderline personality disorder, a diagnosis he revealed during the first part of the Summer House reunion. As he described hitting "rock bottom," Levitan ended the relationship "because she had to." After a late-2025 hospitalization over self-harm, Dillard went to recovery and the pair broke up; he said dating in recovery "would have been a mess" and that he needed to focus on his health.

"Recovery changed my life," he added.
