King's Bounty: The Legend gets widescreen support, achievements and mods
Long before Heroes of Might & Magic returned to form with Olden Era, King's Bounty: The Legend offered a strategy‑RPG in the HoMM mold set on a single sprawling world map and notable for quirky touches like courtly marriage — you could even marry a frog or a zombie. A fresh update prepares the game for modern PCs: it now supports widescreen resolutions so the black bars down the sides are gone, the maximum zoom‑out distance has been doubled, and the UI has received a readability pass.
The update also adds contemporary Steam features: achievements, trading cards and a points shop. A dedicated Steam Workshop has been added too, though the only current mod undoes one of the readability changes and restores the original fonts.
Developer Katauri plans to bring these updates to King's Bounty: Armored Princess next. The series is currently on sale on Steam, with King's Bounty: The Legend and the follow‑up Crossworlds both 85% off.
