Kingdom Hearts IV Teases Characters From a Delisted Game
Most people think of spin-offs as optional, but Kingdom Hearts treats nearly every entry as required reading. The newest trailer for Kingdom Hearts IV continues that tradition, teasing characters who originated in a game many fans probably haven’t played. Alongside familiar faces such as Sora and Luxord, the trailer includes several characters that only those aware of the mobile spin-offs Kingdom Hearts Union X and Dark Road will recognize.
That dual package, a combination of Union X and Dark Road, was delisted from digital storefronts in 2024; the prequel game is set long before Sora’s adventures and tells the stories of the Keyblade War and Xehanort’s origins. Square Enix has not released an official way to catch up on those stories, though the company previously included cutscenes from harder-to-access entries as a watchable movie in remaster compilations ahead of Kingdom Hearts III.
In the meantime, fans have uploaded the cutscenes to places like YouTube.
