Kingdom Hearts, Final Fantasy and Persona dominated Summer Game Fest 2026
With Nintendo’s final Direct on June 9 closing a week of showcases, JRPGs emerged as the clear winners. Big-name Western titles such as God of War Laufey and Gears of War: E-Day drew attention, but the biggest momentum went to Japanese role-playing games. In the last seven days Square Enix offered an extensive look at Final Fantasy 7 Revelation and unveiled the first trailer and release date for the third game in the remake project.
Sega announced a release date for Persona 4 Revival and confirmed Persona 6 is in development, while Nintendo revealed the release date for Fire Emblem Fortune's Weave, showed a glimpse of a new Xenoblade, presented Final Fantasy Resonance, and delivered a lengthy look at Kingdom Hearts 4.
The calendar fills quickly: Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter arrives in September, Tales of Eternia Remastered in October, and Dragon Quest Monsters: The Withered World in December.
