King Charles offers Harry and Meghan an olive branch before UK visit
King Charles III reportedly extended an olive branch to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, inviting the couple and their children to stay at a royal residence when they return to the UK next month. The offer is said to include security arrangements following Harry’s battle for taxpayer-funded protection; the Sussexes plan to bring Prince Archie, 7, and Princess Lilibet, 5.
The duke and duchess were stripped of security privileges after stepping down from royal duties and moving to the US in 2020, a split that deepened tensions. Harry has said he did not "feel safe" in the UK amid what he described as well-documented extremist threats, and the couple’s exit — dubbed "Megxit" — was followed by a high-profile interview with Oprah Winfrey and Harry’s 2023 book, "Spare." After a private tea with his father last September, Harry acknowledged he wanted to spend more time in England and bring his family.
