Kevin Hart says Dwayne Johnson's roast joke caught him 'off guard'

Kevin Hart said Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s joke at the Roast of Kevin Hart caught him off guard during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, when Kimmel asked if any of the jokes on the Netflix special had hurt.

Hart recalled Johnson holding up a picture of his father alongside a mug shot and quipping, “Look at my dad. Kev, we both love our dads.” Johnson showed a photo of his own late father, Rocky Johnson, “in shape, you know, coming from the gym,” then a photo of Hart’s father, Henry Robert Witherspoon, which Hart called “the worst picture of my father I’ve ever seen” — a shirtless Witherspoon sitting down.

He said the image caught him off guard but was funny, and added that anything done with the effort of getting a laugh deserves the benefit of the doubt. As for the barbs aimed at him, Hart said, he sees them as jokes at the end of the day.
