Hertha BSC teenager Kennet Eichhorn has rejected a move to Liverpool, choosing to remain in Germany to prioritise his footballing development. The decision ends Liverpool’s pursuit and has set off a domestic battle for his signature between Bayer Leverkusen and RB Leipzig.

Sky Sport Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg said Liverpool invested significant time and presented the most attractive bid financially and in terms of club stature, yet the 16‑year‑old turned it down. Plettenberg wrote: "EXCL | Rejection in the last hours: Despite Liverpool’s intensive efforts, Hertha BSC gem Kennet Eichhorn will not join the Reds." Valued at €20 million, Eichhorn has made 20 appearances across all competitions, scoring twice and totaling 1,358 minutes of action — a tally that includes 17 matches in the 2.

Bundesliga, two DFB-Pokal outings and one in the U19 Nachwuchsliga. Bayer Leverkusen are pushing hard to complete a permanent deal and currently appear to be the frontrunners, while Leipzig remain hopeful.
