Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell have stayed friends since their days on All That and the sitcom Kenan & Kel, and they still move through interviews with the easy rhythm of people who grew up together. The pair bonded performing sketch comedy as teenagers and later went on to long, varied careers in comedy and television.

On this week’s Shelf Quest they roam New York’s videogamesnewyork, arguing over Power Gloves, reminiscing about Dance Dance Revolution, and trying to name every Sega Genesis game they loved. Mitchell remembers mowing lawns in Chicago to save up for a Genesis, then spending hours with OutRun and Altered Beast.

Browsing the aisles, they marvel at the eye‑watering prices attached to collectibles and at how many characters from their childhood — Mario, Sonic, Metroid — have become shared experiences for a new generation. "Pixelation to HD is a wild journey, man," Thompson says.
