After two-and-a-half years of silence since a cinematic teaser, Sony's State of Play finally showed gameplay for Kemuri. Interest in the project has followed studio founder Ikumi Nakamura, who cut her teeth at Capcom and made herself known during a presentation for Tango Gameworks' Ghostwire: Tokyo.

Kemuri is a co-op action game about hunting yokai in Kemuri City, a place where the worlds of the living and yokai mix. Hunters use an ability called the Fox Window to detect paranormal phenomena, must form contracts with yokai, and can then embody those yokai as unique apparel to gain advantages in battle and traversal.

The game offers three classes — Katana Hunter, Bow Hunter and Shaman — that suit three-player co-op and hint at classic archetypes. The PlayStation Blog likens the multiplayer to a Dark Souls-style experience, noting that even in singleplayer distinctive hunters and contracted yokai may be alongside you.
