Kelli Giddish on Her Friendship with Mariska Hargitay

Nbc reports Kelli Giddish spoke about her friendship with Mariska Hargitay during an appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show on Tuesday, January 20; Giddish re-joined Law & Order: Special Victims Unit as a series regular at the start of Season 27.

Giddish discussed a viral summer 2025 video of the two dancing to the Law & Order theme that garnered more than 80 million views. When Drew Barrymore asked, "Is there anything Mariska can't do?" Giddish replied, "No, there's nothing," and added, "I wish people also just knew how funny she [is]." She described the clip as a testament to a real-life friendship forged over years working together on SVU and said being Hargitay's friend and supporter has been earned over time.

Giddish has said the relationship was "earned," and in a 2022 interview with People she described their bond as developing organically in a way that mirrors their characters' journey. She noted audiences respond to the on-screen dynamic of two working moms who may disagree but tell the truth and support each other.
