'Backrooms' Director Kane Parsons Addresses Chances of Making 'Backrooms 2'

Kane Parsons pushed back on recent talk that he is developing a sequel to Backrooms while speaking on The Town with Matt Belloni podcast. Asked whether he was looking for a writer, he said he was "not sure where that got out" and called the idea "more like a hallucination." A Deadline report had said Parsons was searching for a screenwriting collaborator to help shape a second film that would guide audiences through his initial nightmare.

Parsons’ comments directly contradict that account. Parsons has previously said he would love to continue the story as a TV series, calling that notion his "dream scenario" and "the most practical way to narratively get what you want." He has worked on the concepts behind Backrooms since he was 16 and first explored the world in a 2022 YouTube series.

While more movies or a series remain possibilities, they do not appear likely in the immediate future. Backrooms opened with a strong U.S.
