Kaiju anime Snowball Earth is getting a second season

Snowball Earth will return for a second season, an announcement that followed the 13th and final episode of season one. The series is available on Crunchyroll, Hulu and Disney Plus. A preview trailer released with the news showcased kaiju, giant robots, a cursed cat and a father figure without eyeballs.

No release date was announced, though the teaser suggests there is already animation completed for a preview. Toho Animation's YouTube description opens with the line, "Yukio, I’m going to make a friend." It describes shy Tetsuo, whose only companion was the giant robot Yukio; together they defended humanity as its "saviors" against galactic monsters.

A decade after their final, desperate battle, Tetsuo returns to find Earth transformed into a frozen wasteland now called Snowball Earth and steps back into this strange new world carrying the promise he made to Yukio. The anime adapts Yuhiro Tsujitsugi's manga, which ran for 11 volumes in Monthly!
