Kai Havertz makes Champions League history against PSG
Kai Havertz made Champions League history with an early goal in the final against Paris Saint-Germain, becoming the first German in the modern Champions League to score in two finals. He had previously netted the winner for Chelsea in Porto in 2021, and only Cristiano Ronaldo and Mario Mandžukić have scored in finals for two different clubs.
Franz "Bulle" Roth and Gerd Müller achieved the feat for Bayern in the European Cup era. The strike came in the sixth minute after a pass from Piero Hincapié; Havertz powered down the left flank, evaded Willian Pacho and sent the ball under the bar from a tight angle, leaving PSG goalkeeper Matvey Safonov with no chance.
For Arsenal, who entered the match as underdogs, it was a dream start. Shortly before kick-off, Thierry Henry told Bild, "He has this gift for scoring important goals. He constantly applies pressure and reads the game exceptionally well thanks to his high footballing IQ.
