Arsenal's quest for their first Champions League title began strongly in Budapest when Kai Havertz opened the scoring in the fifth minute against Paris Saint-Germain. The German broke free down the left, drove into the penalty area and blasted the ball into the roof of the net at the Puskas Arena.

By scoring in Budapest, Havertz joined an elite group as one of only three players to score in a Champions League final for two different teams, alongside Cristiano Ronaldo and Mario Mandzukic. He had previously netted the decisive goal for Chelsea in the 2021 final and his early strike put Mikel Arteta's men in the driving seat as they chase a first continental crown and a historic double after their Premier League triumph.

This is Arsenal's second Champions League final appearance; they previously led in the 2006 defeat to Barcelona. Paris Saint-Germain enter as the defending champions, having beaten Inter 5-0 in last season's final.
