Justin Kuritzkes added to Spider-Man: Brand New Day writing team
Justin Kuritzkes has been added as a third writer on Spider-Man: Brand New Day, joining Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers after helping to revise the screenplay. Tom Holland revealed the change on Good Hang with Amy Poehler, saying he and Zendaya felt a scene wasn’t working.
Director Destin Daniel Cretton told the crew, "Everyone can go home. We’re going to sit down, and we’re going to rewrite this scene with the writer, Justin, who is such a talent." They returned the next day, reshot the scene, and Holland said, "it sings in the movie." Kuritzkes is best known for his collaborations with Luca Guadagnino on Challengers and Queer and wrote the script for Guadagnino’s abandoned DC movie Sgt.
Rock, giving him some comic-book movie experience. Challengers, which stars Zendaya as a former tennis star-turned-coach navigating a match between her husband and her ex-boyfriend, has been praised for its sharp writing and dialogue, making his involvement with Spider-Man 4’s script notable.
