Joshua Kimmich backs Arsenal in Champions League final

Joshua Kimmich has said he will support Arsenal in the Champions League final against Paris Saint-Germain, even though Bayern Munich were eliminated by PSG in the semi-finals. He made clear his backing is not born of resentment towards PSG but from a desire to see Germany team-mate Kai Havertz succeed on Europe’s biggest stage.

Kimmich believes a Champions League win for Havertz would give the national team a timely boost ahead of their summer commitments. "I wish Kai success so that he can join us after success. Such a title brings positive energy," he said. He also defended Havertz’s standing in Germany, arguing the forward is often underrated at home despite his versatility and technical quality.

"He is an extremely important player for us and is underrated in Germany. At the Euros he was decisive, because he brings a fantastic overall package that will help us," Kimmich added. All eyes now turn to the final, where Havertz and Arsenal will try to overcome PSG.
