Josh Sawyer calls Fallout TV show 'an amazing adaptation'
New Vegas director Josh Sawyer said the Fallout TV show is 'an amazing adaptation,' and called it 'one of the best that I've seen.' He told The 41st Precinct that he enjoyed both seasons and watched them as they came out.
Sawyer praised the show's interpretation of his game's factions and setting, and singled out Justin Theroux's portrayal. He acknowledged personal nitpicks—'Any writer is gonna look at something and be like "meh, I don't know if I'd do that"'—but dismissed them as individual preferences.
He said he wasn't 'too bent out of shape' about changes such as the Dinky the Dinosaur landmark facing a different direction, noting the scene would not work otherwise and laughing at the reaction some fans have. Sawyer has also described himself as 'a guest' when it comes to how Fallout is represented, rather than someone who must dictate its adaptation; series co-creator Tim Cain similarly expressed his approval on his YouTube channel.
