Chelsea have rejected multiple formal approaches for 20-year-old academy graduate Josh Acheampong and granted him an 'untouchable' status at Stamford Bridge. The internal designation places the versatile full-back in the same protected bracket as Joao Pedro, Cole Palmer and Moises Caicedo.

The board has taken a firm stance, blocking any potential path to a summer exit. Acheampong made 17 Premier League appearances last season, nine as a substitute, totaling 663 top-flight minutes and scoring once, but the club regard his raw defensive potential as an irreplaceable asset.

The breakthrough offers a rare bright spot after Chelsea finished 10th, 33 points behind champions Arsenal. Xabi Alonso, recently appointed manager following Liam Rosenior's departure, will oversee the defender's development and long-term future. Acheampong is under contract until June 2029 and remains of interest to Arsenal, Newcastle United and Crystal Palace, with Bournemouth maintaining prior interest from last summer.
