Warner Bros. has removed Jonah Hill’s Cut Off from its schedule ahead of its expected Jul. 27, 2026 release, Puck insider Matt Belloni (via World of Reel) said. The film finished filming in Sept. 2025 after replacing original star Jennifer Lawrence with Kristen Wiig.

Test screenings reportedly did not go well; one attendee called the movie 'unwatchable.' Belloni also reported that Warner Bros. considers the picture 'unreleasable' and that its fate may hinge on Paramount's deal to purchase Warner Bros., a transaction that will also decide the futures of film chiefs Michael De Luca and Pam Abdy.

Hill rose to prominence with 2007’s Superbad and earned Oscar nominations for his supporting turns in Moneyball (2011) and The Wolf of Wall Street (2013). He has moved into directing, with credits including 2018’s mid90s, the 2022 documentary Stutz, and 2026’s Outcome; he also directed the second episode of HBO’s Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty Season 1.
