Jenny Mollen said she felt tossed aside early in her marriage to Jason Biggs during an appearance on the "What Matters With Liz" podcast. The episode was released Wednesday but recorded before their split, which was announced several weeks ago after 18 years of marriage.

She admitted she "always had a chip on my shoulder in the beginning" because she felt she went from having her life together to marrying someone who "in a lot of ways — career wise — totally eclipsed me." With people so mesmerized by the "American Pie" star, Mollen said she became "the guest," adding, "To be the spare and not the heir...

I was the spare. I was the 'American Pie' spare. I relate to Harry." Mollen also traced some of the feeling to her upbringing and the lack of structure she experienced after marrying someone "wildly more famous." She said she felt "that nobody was listening to what I was doing anyway" and that she could "get away with saying whatever the f–k I wanted." The writer is a mother of two.
