Jason Statham Meets 'Reacher' in No. 1 Streaming Action Hit
Thirteen years after its theatrical run, Jason Statham's action thriller Homefront has found new life on streaming. Based on Chuck Logan's novel and adapted by Sylvester Stallone, the 100-minute film is often cited as one of Statham's strongest performances. Statham plays Phil Broker, a retired DEA agent raising his daughter Maddy in a small Louisiana town.
When Maddy defends herself against a bully, the confrontation draws in the bully's mother (Kate Bosworth) and her brother Gator (James Franco), a local crime lord, while the cast also includes Winona Ryder, Frank Grillo and Clancy Brown. Flix Patrol places the 2013 film at No.
1 on Paramount+'s U.S. charts, ahead of titles such as Shooter, Taken, Top Gun: Maverick and Jack Reacher. Homefront began as a project Sylvester Stallone envisioned as a Rambo sequel before it was reworked for Statham; director Gary Fleder had directed an episode of Reacher's third season.
