Jason Statham Channels Rambo in Homefront, Now Streaming
Jason Statham turns in one of his most engaging performances in Homefront, the 2013 thriller that casts him as Phil Broker, a retired DEA agent trying to rebuild life with his daughter. The cast includes James Franco, Winona Ryder and Frank Grillo, and the film adapts Chuck Logan's novel from a screenplay developed by Sylvester Stallone, who originally conceived the story as a Rambo sequel before reworking the role for Statham.
Broker's quiet life unravels after his daughter fights a school bully and the bully's mother escalates matters, drawing the attention of local drug lord Gator Bodine — who then kidnaps Broker's child. Despite a 42% Rotten Tomatoes score, Homefront has found an audience, ranking third among movies on Paramount+ and also streaming for free on Pluto TV.
Director Gary Fleder, who has credits on the Alan Ritchson Prime Video series, helms the picture. Statham shows no sign of slowing down.
