Jason Momoa has left the Helldivers movie. Deadline first reported the departure, and The Hollywood Reporter later confirmed it.

The project is still moving forward with Justin Lin directing, but losing Momoa is a notable setback. He first drew attention as Ronon Dex, the Satedan renegade on Stargate Atlantis, and has since become a major box-office draw.

Momoa remains busy: he plays Blanka in the upcoming Street Fighter film, will reprise his role in A Minecraft Movie Squared, portrays Lobo in Supergirl, appears as Duncan Idaho in the concluding chapter of Denis Villeneuve's Dune, and is set to play Dante Reyes in Fast Forever.

Reasons for the split are unclear; the story mentions possible salary disputes, creative differences, or other choices. Sony is searching for a new lead, and Deadline says the film is still scheduled to reach theaters on November 10, 2027.
