Jamie Vardy has reflected on his one season with Cremonese, criticising the gruelling training regimes and the frequent interventions from club presidents as he returns to England. He contrasted Serie A with the Premier League, calling Italian football "much slower, more defensive" and saying "training is nonstop: run, run, run," which left players with "nothing left to give." He also complained that "the sporting director has a say in everything; it's crazy." Vardy pointed to a match-week example: before the Bologna game the squad had the kind of day off he says is common in England, and "everyone came onto the pitch feeling very fresh, and we won 3-1." After the win they reverted to daily training, despite his view that "all matches are important" but should be handled differently.
