James Handy’s final film project scrapped after his death
Writer and producer Heidi Anderson-Swan said James Handy’s last film, Kickback, V, has been halted in pre-production. The comedy, about a group of nerds learning martial arts and the relationship that forms with their karate sensei, was stopped over several issues, including financing.
Anderson-Swan recalled Handy as supportive when she first broke into Hollywood and said she is in shock over his passing. Handy was stabbed to death at a home in Tarzana, found bleeding and unconscious in the front yard after being stabbed repeatedly in the chest.
According to 911 call audio, the suspect told the dispatcher, “I am the son of man, I just killed the man of sin.” Police say the man flagged down officers, confessed and was seen walking away from the scene. The suspect, Michael Gledhill, was charged with one count of murder and is being held at the Van Nuys Jail on $2 million bail.
