Conversation over who will become the next James Bond has continued since Daniel Craig left the role after 2021's No Time to Die. The Broccoli/Wilson family sold the franchise to Amazon MGM Studios, which is now overseeing the secret agent's future on the big screen.

In late June 2025, Amazon announced Denis Villeneuve would direct the new films. Denis Villeneuve and Amazon MGM Studios producers have begun notifying performers who advanced to the next round of auditions. The director has been calling talent directly to inform them that auditions will take place in August.

Estimates vary on how many actors will audition, with numbers put anywhere from five to seven up to the teens. Oddschecker currently lists Callum Turner as the favorite, followed by Harris Dickinson, Jacob Elordi, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Louis Partridge, Theo James, Leo Suter, Jack O'Connell, Henry Cavill, and James Nelson-Joyce.
