Jack of Blades Returns to Fable in February

A darker story trailer for the Fable revival returns the series’ most notorious antagonist to the spotlight and sets a firm release date: February 23, 2027. The trailer opens with Isabel of Wraithmarch addressing the camera and narrating her origin—acquiring her "powers" while trying to save her sister from drowning—before questioning who gets to be called a hero.

It shows monsters, towns, and a Demon Door that tells the player they’re "dressed like a twat." Isabel finishes by saying Albion doesn’t need heroes, it needs "a hero," and that hero is her. A coda reveals Jack of Blades, the villain from the original Fable and a recurring presence across the games.

Jack was thought dead unless the original player had been villainous; canonically he’s been assumed dead ever since, but his fate in the fourth Fable is left uncertain. Xbox also announced a post-launch expansion titled Order of the Hero, which will add a new region and send players on a search for power in an ancient cult with a vacancy for a heroic leader.
