Ivan Perisic predicts another Ballon d'Or winner for Croatia

Ivan Perisic says Croatia can produce another Ballon d'Or winner, calling Luka Modric's 2018 Golden Ball a reminder that the country can reach the very highest level of excellence and noting that more "great talent" continues to drop off the production line. A nation with fewer than four million people has punched well above its weight in sport, producing Grand Slam winners Goran Ivanisevic and Marin Cilic, NBA champion Toni Kukoc and football stars Davor Suker, Zvonimir Boban and Robert Prosinecki.

Perisic said: "Croatia has always had great talent, especially in football. For a country with fewer than four million people, what we've achieved over the years is truly special. Luka's Ballon d'Or win reminded the world that Croatia can reach the very highest level of excellence.

I feel strongly that there will be many more great achievements for Croatia in the future and hopefully more football wins." Looking ahead to the 2026 World Cup, Perisic added: "I'm feeling excited and focused!
