Jurgen Klopp has dismissed suggestions of a lingering rift with Mohamed Salah, saying the pair are "friends now." The German, who oversaw the forward's rise to global superstardom and is now Red Bull’s head of global soccer, added that shared memories have overtaken the tensions of their final days together.

The relationship did include heated moments, most notably a touchline argument at the London Stadium in 2024, but Klopp urged a focus on Salah's professionalism and his role in driving Liverpool to the top. He defended the need for players to take risks, saying, "I want him to try.

I want him to fail. If you don't fail, you don't take risks. If you don't take risks, where's excitement?" Klopp praised Salah's consistency and standing at home, asking rhetorically, "Did he perform every day? Probably not. But I can't remember one player to be honest who did that." He described Salah as an "incredible professional" whose goals and performances often decided games, placing him among the modern greats despite imperfections.
