Sweden made a devastating statement of intent at the 2026 World Cup, dismantling Tunisia 5-1 in Monterrey to top Group F. Alexander Isak and Viktor Gyokeres both scored as the Scandinavians proved too powerful for their African opponents. Isak put a difficult debut season with Liverpool behind him with a dominant display, scoring a brilliant solo goal and helping create others.

The opening strike arrived in the seventh minute when Brighton's Yasin Ayari rifled home from the edge of the box after Mouhib Chamakh had initially denied Isak and Gyokeres in a chaotic sequence. Tunisia briefly threatened a comeback just before half-time when Omar Rekik headed in a cross from Hannibal Mejbri.

Any revival was ended in the 59th minute after Isak harried captain Ellyes Skhiri into an error; the ball fell to Arsenal's Gyokeres, who finished clinically. Mattias Svanberg then added a goal seconds after coming on, a VAR check confirming Isak’s touch had put him onside, and Ayari wrapped up the scoring in stoppage time.
