Is Overwatch's 52nd hero a robot or a human?

Overwatch's soft reboot earlier this year has kicked off more story development. Several new short stories, comics, and webcomics are building up to something big, and those pieces look necessary for figuring out what is going on with its newest hero. The trailer for Overwatch's 52nd hero, Shion, doesn't reveal much beyond earlier hints: she is one of the leaders of the Hashimoto clan—Overwatch's near-future version of the yakuza—and she dual-wields pistols.

Fans are already debating whether she is an Omnic or a human, and the trailer refuses to give a clear answer. At first she appears to wear a demon mask like other Hashimoto members, but when she speaks through speakers in her neck it almost seems like it is not a mask at all and that she is a robot.

Shion tells Sojourn she 'fights well for a human,' a line that reads like something an Omnic would say; Sojourn replies she was thinking the same thing. All that is confirmed is that she is the clan's 'most terrifying elder' and will be a villain in the next season.
