Iron Lung, Jason Statham’s Shelter and the best new streaming movies

Streaming this weekend leans heavily into horror and thrills. Lucile Hadžihalilović’s The Ice Tower, a creepy spin on The Snow Queen, is on Shudder, while Mark Fischbach’s self‑financed adaptation of Iron Lung — a claustrophobic sub horror set in an ocean of blood — is now streaming on YouTube.

Damian McCarthy’s Hokum, about a writer trapped in a haunted Irish hotel and starring Adam Scott, is available to rent, and Starz has Shelter, which follows Jason Statham as a former assassin drawn back into violence while protecting a teenager. Pixar’s Hoppers lands on Disney Plus; made for kids, it reportedly takes a darker turn in its final act.

Several new films have also arrived on VOD: Affection (science fiction horror), Chum (horror thriller), Is God Is (revenge thriller), Signal One (science fiction), and Speed Demon (supernatural horror) offer a range of tones from eerie to violent.
