Iran squad for World Cup 2026: full squad and key players

Iran have sealed qualification for the 2026 World Cup, marking a fourth consecutive appearance at the finals after winning seven of 10 qualifying matches to top their group. Amir Ghalenoei’s side will travel to the tournament in the USA, Mexico and Canada as Group G opponents of New Zealand, Belgium and Egypt, seeking to end a run that has seen them fail to progress beyond the group stage in six previous World Cups.

The final 26-man squad features a mix of experience and youth. Veteran goalkeeper Alireza Beiranvand is favoured to start, with Hossein Hosseini and Payam Niazmand completing the goalkeeping trio. The defence is built around Shojae Khalilzadeh and Hossein Kanaanizadegan, with Saleh Hardani, Ali Nemati, Ehsan Hajsafi, Ramin Rezaeian, Milad Mohammadi and young Danial Eiri also named.

Midfield options combine established internationals and emerging talent.
