Iran captain Mehdi Taremi criticised FIFA and president Gianni Infantino, calling it "a disaster World Cup" and accusing organisers of failing to resolve ongoing logistical and visa issues. The squad has been affected by visa problems that prevented 11 senior officials from joining and by repeated travel between their base in Tijuana and matches in the United States.

Speaking after the draw with Egypt, Taremi said FIFA had failed to deliver on promises made earlier in the tournament and highlighted the absence of key logistics and recovery staff because of visa issues. "It’s a disaster World Cup; a disaster," he said, adding that Infantino "came to our changing room after the first game against New Zealand and said, 'It’s just the beginning'." Head coach Amir Ghalenoei echoed the criticism and urged FIFA to stand up to the hosts, saying the United States had not treated the team well.
