iOS 27's two most useful WWDC features boost connectivity and iMessage
Though AI-powered Siri upgrades framed most WWDC announcements, some of the more interesting perks were less discussed. Apple announced two small but meaningful enhancements to iPhone performance that will be included in iOS 27, to be released this fall. iOS 27 includes advancements in device performance, including swifter network transitions.
Typically, switching between Wi‑Fi and cellular requires opening Control Center to manually turn off Wi‑Fi to reduce the risk of a connectivity lapse. That lapse often happens during hands‑free calls with AirPods: the phone stays on home Wi‑Fi in the garage and then drops the call when leaving the driveway because it doesn't default to cellular quickly enough.
Apple also showcased an improvement to iMessage prioritization.
