Inside Man: A Near-Perfect Heist Thriller for Your Weekend

Netflix will add Inside Man and its sequel Inside Man: Most Wanted on June 1. Inside Man centers on a group of thieves led by Dalton Russell (Clive Owen), who seize control of a major bank in Manhattan. As Detective Keith Frazier (Denzel Washington) works to defuse the hostage situation, corporate fixer Madeleine White (Jodie Foster) is sent to retrieve something belonging to the bank's owner, Arthur Case (Christopher Plummer).

Spike Lee’s daring direction keeps viewers hooked while writer Russell Gewirtz unfolds a layered story. Dalton declares he has pulled off the perfect heist, and much of the film is dedicated to revealing how he stayed ten steps ahead as Frazier and White try to keep up.

The movie was a milestone for Lee and for Washington: it was Lee’s most mainstream film to that point, with his biggest budget at $45 million, and it grossed over $184 million worldwide. It also served as Denzel Washington’s highest-grossing movie until his role in Gladiator 2, which helped greenlight talk of a sequel.
